FMAD - April 30th

Our April 30th show is posted below. With apologies to Kris Burke, we had a technical issue so his call was not recorded BUT I am going to ask him to post comments to fill the blanks in so things will make a little more sense.

There is still plenty of talk of the KFC Double Down tasting and the Kentucky Derby, where I successfully predict the favorite will go down and unsuccessfully predict the winner.

You can listen to this broadcast right here on SoundCloud.

Preview: The 2010 Kentucky Derby

“I have a better chance of regrowing hair on my head than Smarty Jones does of winning this race” – FMAD Senior (my father) on the afternoon of May 1, 2004. Hours later, Smarty Jones would win the Kentucky Derby.

Event Report: Ante Up For Africa

Poker pro Annie Duke brought her (and co-founder Don Cheadle’s) Ante Up For Africa charity tournament series to Washington DC last week. Cheadle and Duke founded Ante Up For Africa to assist humanitarian efforts in Africa, chiefly to help stop the genocide in and help rebuild Darfur, Sudan. Cheadle and Duke customarily bring attention to their cause by hosting an annual tournament in conjunction with the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

The FMAD Shoot Interview: Ron Motta

Ron Motta will be the first to tell you that he isn’t good friends with Conan O’Brien but compared to most of us, he was like Conan’s twin. Motta was an intern on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and later served in various capacities on the show before leaving in 1999. He would go on to have a successful career in entertainment journalism and now serves as entertainment columnist at Daily Lounge.

The Relentless Newlywed

I have a very good friend, someone I could even describe as the big sister I never had. We have had ups and downs like all of us do in all our relationships but it was my honor to join with many others in celebrating her wedding recently. Above and beyond this being a special occasion for anyone, she had become a well-known blogger in the wedding planning world as she talked about her experiences in preparing her perfect day, so the wedding took on added significance for thousands of people who followed her story as The Relentless Bride.
